  To resolve a 'Communication Time Out' error in HP Storage, ensure the secondary system is powered on and that NVS and cache are fully functional. Verify that network relay devices (cables, connectors, switches, ESCDs, extender devices, communication lines, and all other devices connected to the extenders) are properly configured and functional. Delete the failed path. You may need to change the minimum paths setting or delete the secondary system in order to delete the path. After deletion finishes, add the path or secondary system by using the Add Path dialog box or the Add DKC dialog box.

  If the HP Storage primary storage system suspended all Cnt Ac-J pairs because the primary storage system was powered off, no action is needed. The primary storage system automatically restores these Cnt Ac-J pairs when it is powered back on.

  If the HP Storage primary storage system suspended this pair during the initial copy operation because the data on the S-VOL is not identical to the data on the P-VOL, release the pair from the primary storage system. Clear all error conditions at the primary storage system, P-VOL, secondary storage system, and S-VOL. Restart the initial copy operation using the Paircreate dialog box.

  If the HP Storage primary storage system could not find valid control information in its nonvolatile memory during the IMPL procedure, restore the pair (pairresync) from the primary storage system. The primary storage system performs an initial copy operation in response to the pairresync request, so that the entire P-VOL is copied to the S-VOL.

  If the HP Storage primary system detected an error during communication with the secondary storage system or an I/O error during update copy, check the path status in the DKC Status dialog box. Clear any error conditions at the secondary storage system and the S-VOL. If you need to access the S-VOL, release the pair from the secondary storage system. If data in the S-VOL has been changed, release the pair from the primary storage system and then re create the pair by using the Paircreate dialog box. If data has not been changed, restore the pair from the primary storage system.

  To resolve a timeout error during a pair create or resync operation on your HP Storage system, first, if a SIM was generated due to a hardware failure, contact HP Technical Support and retry the operation after the issue is resolved. If no SIM was generated, wait 5-6 minutes and check the pair status. If the status changed correctly, the operation completed after the timeout. If the status didn't change, retry the operation during a lighter workload. For communication errors between the Remote Web Console and the SVP, consult the HP StorageWorks P9000 Remote Web Console User Guide.
