This topic explains how to replace an Solid State-Drive (SSD) if RAID (Redundant Array of Independent
Disks) is not configured on your SRX4600 Services Gateway.
The two SSDs installed in the SRX4600 Services Gateway are field-replaceable unit (FRUs). You need to
power off the SRX4600 Services Gateway to replace a SSD from the services gateway.
When you are replacing a faulty SSD with a new SSD that has no Junos OS installed on it or if you have
to reinstall the corrupted Junos OS image on the SSD, you should use a USB flash drive to install the Junos
OS.
Removing an SSD from an SRX4600 Services Gateway
You need to power off the SRX4600 Services Gateway to remove a SSD from the services gateway.
Ensure that you have the following equipment available:
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap
An antistatic bag or an antistatic mat
SSD to replace
To remove an SSD, see (Figure 40 on page 102):
1. Attach an ESD grounding strap to your bare wrist and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on
the chassis.
2. Place the antistatic bag or the antistatic mat on a flat, stable surface.
3. Place your thumb on the SSD handle and press the tab below the SSD handle with one finger to unlock
the SSD from its slot.
4. Pull the SSD firmly to slide it out of its slot.
5. Place the SSD in the antistatic bag or on the antistatic mat placed on a flat, stable surface.
