3. On STS-1 path-switched rings, all nodes in the ring
must be provisioned as STS-1 cross-connections.
NOTE:
If STS-1 cross-connections exist presently and VT1.5
cross-connections will be required, conversion of STS-1
cross-connections to VT1.5 cross-connections must be
performed before ring software is loaded into the system.
If required, at all shelves in the network, use the
cnvt-crs:address1,address2 command to convert all
low-speed DS1 STS-1 cross-connections to corresponding VT1.5
cross-connections.
8. Use rtrv-sync: command to check timing mode and
parameters for proper provisioning. If necessary, use set-sync:
command to change timing provisioning.
9. Use set-fecom:dcc-m:com=disabled command to disable
far-end communications (fecom) at the near end shelf.

CAUTION:
Transmission configuration information for in service
systems is stored on the
TGS/TG3
circuit pack in
TIMING
slot
1
. In some instances (for example, during system tests
or while performing this upgrade), if the version of software
being installed is not compatible with the current
transmission configuration, it will be necessary to remove the
TGS/TG3
circuit pack in
TIMING
slot
1
in order to force the
system to run the software you are trying to download. If
both
TGS/TG3
circuit packs are not installed, removal of the
only
TGS/TG3
circuit pack will cause service interruption.
NOTE:
BBF4 TG3 circuit packs cannot be mixed with
BBF2/BBF2B/BBF2C TGS circuit packs in the same
DDM-2000 OC-3 shelf.
