5.4 CRANE OPERATION M A E D A Crawler Crane
5-20 5/2020 CC1908S-1
If the hook block is over-hoisted, the
overwinding prevention device activates, the
warning buzzer sounds, and the operation
stops.
When the warning buzzer sounds, release
your hand immediately from the right-hand
control lever and place it at the neutral position
to stop raising the hook.
Now operate the right-hand control lever to the
"Hoist down" side (push forward) to lower the
hook block.
If the boom is excessively extended, the hook
block is hoisted, the overwinding prevention
device activates, the warning buzzer sounds,
and the operation stops.
When the warning buzzer sounds, release
your hand immediately from the left-hand
control lever and place it at the neutral position
to stop the boom extension operation.
Now operate the left-hand control lever to the
"Retract" side (pull toward you) to retract the
boom.
Use the horn switch to sound the horn to notify
people in the vicinity of danger while operating
the crane.
PRECAUTIONS WHEN
OPERATING CRANE
INSPECTION BEFORE STARTING WORK
Check that the safety devices and crane operate
properly.
Operate each of the control levers, pedals, and
switches under no load, and check that they
operate normally.
Repair immediately if any abnormality exists.
Check safety devices such as the moment
limiter (overload prevention device),
overwinding prevention device, and over un-
winding prevention device to ensure that they
function normally.
PRECAUTIONS WHEN SETTING MOMENT
LIMITER
The moment limiter calculates the moment on
the assumption that the machine is horizontal.
If the crane is operated without the machine
being placed horizontally, warnings and alarms
will not be given even when the rated total load
is approached. Be sure to check the inclination
of the machine using the level gauge on the
monitor screen.
When using the moment limiter, check to
ensure that the boom angle, boom length, and
actual load indicators are interlocked with the
crane motion to give the correct values. If the
crane is used with no correct indication given,
correct measurement results cannot be
obtained, resulting in serious personal injury
due to machine toppling or damage to the
machine.
When using the moment limiter, be sure to
check that the number of falls setting for the
moment limiter matches the number of falls
setting for the crane. Using the moment limiter
without matching the number of falls may
cause the wire rope to break, resulting in
serious personal injury.
