[5] Fuel prefilter inspection
WARNING
The fuel prefilter contains fuel (diesel). Be
extremely careful of the presence of naked
flames, including cigarettes, when washing
the transparent cup of the fuel prefilter.
IMPORTANT
• Water or dust accumulating inside the fuel
prefilter will cause engine problems. Check
inside the transparent cup and drain any
water or dust accumulated inside while
referring to "[3] Fuel prefilter contaminating
water and sediment draining" on P. 6-53.
• If water accumulates in the fuel prefilter
transparent cup, it is likely that water is also
mixed in the fuel tank. Drain water and
contaminants mixed in the fuel tank while
referring to "[3] Fuel prefilter contaminating
water and sediment draining" on P. 6-53.
1. Stop the machine on a level surface.
2. Open the right cover.
3. Inspect the transparent cup (2) and check if
water and sediment has accumulated inside
it.
4. If water has accumulated inside the
transparent cup, drain the water while
referring to "[3] Fuel prefilter contaminating
water and sediment draining" on P. 6-53.
5. Close the right cover.
[6] Electric wiring inspection
CAUTION
• When a fuse blows frequently or there are
signs of short-circuiting in the electric
wiring, immediately request us or our sales
service agency to investigate the cause and
conduct repairs.
• Keep the top face of the battery clean and
inspect the vent hole in the battery cap. If it
becomes clogged with mud, wash the
battery cap with water to unclog it.
Check that fuses are not damaged, that the
specified capacity fuses are being used, that there
are no signs of disconnection or short-circuiting in
the electric wiring, that sheaths are not damaged,
and that terminals are not loose. If loose, retighten
them.
In particular, inspect the battery, starter, and
alternator wiring.
Be sure to check for and remove any build-up of
combustibles around the battery.
[7] Boom working light and head light
inspection
Check that the boom working light and head light
illuminate properly and are not dirty or damaged.
1. Turn the starter switch to the "ON" position.
2. Turn the light switch to the "ON" position to
check that the boom working light and head
light on.
