2.4.3.4 Installing the Interface and DSP Cards
In addition to the platform and the embedded interfaces, the SMB Controller also supports four
expansion interface cards. An interface card can be inserted into any free interface card socket.
Note:
Before opening the SMB Controller for any repair or troubleshooting, read the product
information and safety instructions carefully.
To prevent damage to the components, always follow proper ESD procedures. This also
applies to handling interface cards, processor cards, and system modules that are not inside
ESD-protective wrapping.
To install an interface card:
1.
Disconnect the power supply.
2.
Remove the cover.
3.
Connect the earthing wire to the ground terminal of the bottom plate, see Earthing and
protecting the communication server on page 60.
4.
Insert the interface cards into the IC1, IC2, IC3, and IC4 slots by placing the interface card at
a slight angle into the required slot and carefully pressing the interface card down until the two
metal clamps engage.
