Parts Replacement and Substitution
When damaged parts are replaced, identical parts must be used. If the identical replacement part is not
locally available, check the parts list for the proper Motorola Solutions part number and order the part.
Rigid Circuit Boards
This family of radios uses bonded, multilayer, printed circuit boards. Special considerations are required when
soldering and desoldering components as the inner layers are not accessible. The plated-through holes may
interconnect multiple layers of the printed circuit. Therefore, exercise care to avoid pulling the plated circuit
out of the hole.
When soldering near a connector:
Avoid accidentally getting solder in the connector.
Be careful not to form solder bridges between the connector pins.
Examine your work closely for shorts due to solder bridges.
For soldering components with Hot-Air or infrared solder systems, check the user guide of your solder system
to get information on solder temperature and time for the different housings of the integrated circuits and
other components.
Care After Submersion
The radio (device with antenna and battery assembled) is IP67 compliant. It is fully protected from dust, and
can withstand being submerged up to 30 minutes in one meter of static water.
