Note: Refer to the CD-ROM drive manufacturer’s documentation
for specific jumper settings.

Install the slide rails on the new drive.
Ensure that the first set of holes on the bracket are aligned with the
screw holes closest to the front of the CD-ROM drive.

Slide the new CD-ROM drive into the drive bay and secure it to the
front of the server with the screws you removed earlier.

Reconnect the CD-ROM drive’s IDE cable to IDE0 (blue connector)
on the motherboard. Ensure that the blue stripe on the cable at the
motherboard connector end faces towards the back of the server.
ATTENTION
The server will not start if the cable is connected backwards.

Reconnect the CD-ROM drive’s power cable.
Result: The CD-ROM drive is installed.

Replace the upper fan holder foam. For instructions on replacing the
upper fan holder foam, see "To replace the upper fan holder foam"
(page 88).

Replace the side cover.

Reconnect the peripheral device and power cables.

Power up the server.

Test the CD-ROM drive.

Replacing the floppy disk drive
The floppy disk drive is preinstalled at the factory. However, if it becomes
faulty, follow the procedure in this section to replace it.
CAUTION
Use only a floppy disk drive that is supplied by Nortel.
