TheODUcommunicateswiththeRADWINManagerusingtheSNMPv1orSNMPv3protocol.
TheSNMPv1protocoldefinesthreetypesofcommunities:
•Read‐Onlyforretrievinginformation fromtheODU
•Read‐Writetoconfigureandcontrolthe ODU
•TrapusedbytheODUtoissuetraps.
TheCommunitystringmustbeenteredatlogon.Youmustknowthepasswordandthe
correctCommunitystringtogainaccesstothesystem.Youmayhaveread‐onlyprivileges.Itis
notpossibletomanagetheODUiftheread‐writeorthereadCommunityvaluesare
forgotten.AnewCommunityvaluemaybeobtainedfrom
RADWINCustomerSer viceforthe
purposeofsettingnewCommunity.Youmustalsohaveavailabletheserialnumberorthe
MACaddressoftheODU.
Theread‐writeCommunitystringsandread‐onlyCommunitystringshaveaminimumoffive
alphanumericcharacters.(bru1andbru4097arenotpermitted).Changingthetrap
Communityisoptionalandisdonebyclickingthecheckbox.
EditingSNMPv1CommunityStrings
Wheneditingthesestrings,bothread‐write andread‐onlycommunitiesmustbedefined.
Uponloggingonforthefirsttime,usethefollowingasthecurrentCommunity:
• ForRead‐WriteCommunity,usenetman.
• ForRead‐OnlyCommunity,usepublic.
• ForTrapCommunity,usepublic
TochangeaCommunitystring:
1.Typethecurrentread‐writeCommunity(defaultisnetman).
