Adjusting Printer Gamma
To improve color quality, clean the
print related components first.
Replace units and/or components as
necessary. If this maintenance does
not correct the customer’s color
issue and adjustment via the print
driver is not acceptable, to return the
printer to optimum factory output,
adjust the printer gamma.
To adjust the printer gamma, you will
use the color calibration test sheet
[A] which is printed from the printer.
This sheet shows the color grada-
tions produced by combining all color
(CMY) development units –
“Processed Black” (top gradation
scale on the chart), the black
development unit, the cyan
development unit, the magenta
development unit, and the yellow
development unit (bottom gradation
scale on the chart). The gradation
balance shown on the color
calibration test sheet changes as you
adjust the printer gamma. Adjust the
printer gamma until the printed color calibration test sheet shows well-balanced
color gradations (even changes in density) in the “Current Value” sections of the
chart .
1. Enter the SP mode.
2. Locate Service SP1-102 (ToneCtlSet).
Then press the Enter key [F].
3. Select the print mode to calibrate,
press the up-arrow key [D] or the
down-arrow key [E].
4. To select a mode, press the Enter key.
Make sure an asterisk (4) is shown.
The asterisk shows which mode is
selected.
NOTE: The mode is printed on the
second line [B] of the color
calibration test sheet.
5. Select Service SP1-103-001
(ToneCtlSheet).
