OVERVIEW
G108 6-6 SM
6.1.5 PRINTING PROCESS
1. OPC belt charge: The charge unit induces a negative electrostatic charge on
the OPC belt.
2. Laser exposure: The optical housing unit emits the laser beam that creates the
latent images on the OPC belt. The OPC belt is contained within the
Photoconductor Unit.
3. Development: The development units provide a specific amount of toner to the
OPC belt, “developing” the latent image.
4. Belt transfer: The toner image is transferred from the OPC belt to the transfer
belt.
1) After belt transfer, the erase lamp quenches the OPC belt.
2) After quenching, the OPC belt-cleaning brush removes any remaining toner
from the OPC belt. The OPC cleaning unit then moves the excess toner to
the waste-toner collection unit.
3) The waste-toner collection unit transports the waste toner to the waste toner
bottle.
5. Paper feed: The paper feed roller rotates on the top sheet of paper moving the
top sheet from the paper tray to the registration roller. (The separation pad
ensures only one sheet is transported from the cassette at one time.)
6. Paper registration: The registration roller pauses the paper’s transport
momentarily and at the correct time moves the sheet to the paper transfer roller.
