account in the server can send/receive e-mail.

Make sure that the e-mail address is actually used.
Check that the e-mail address contains no incorrect
characters such as spaces.

Use the "ping" command to contact the router.
Check that other devices connected to the router can
sent data over the router.

Check whether e-mail can be sent to another address
on the same network, using the application e-mail
