DS2000E Programming Guide
2-321
Example 1 (read the internal memory waveform data at one time):
Assume that the memory depth of the oscilloscope is 70 Kpts, and the return format of the waveform
data is WORD, then, the memory depth of the oscilloscope is smaller than the maximum number of
waveform points that can be read for a single time (125000), and you can read all the waveform data
from the internal memory at one time.
The reading procedures are as follows.
S1. :STOP Set the instrument to STOP state (you can only read
the waveform data from the internal memory when the
oscilloscope is in STOP state)
S2. :WAV:SOUR CHAN1 Set the channel source of waveform data reading to
CH1
S3. :WAV:MODE RAW Set the waveform data reading mode to RAW
Note: When the channel source of waveform data
reading is MATH or FFT, this mode is not available, and
only the waveform data displayed on the screen can be
read.
S4. :WAV:FORM WORD Set the return format of the waveform data to WORD
S5. :WAV:STAR 1 Set the start point of waveform data reading to the
first waveform point
S6. :WAV:STOP 70000 Set the stop point of waveform data reading to the
70000th waveform point (the last point)
S7. :WAV:DATA? Read the waveform data from the internal memory (all
the points)
Example 2 (read the internal memory waveform data in several batches):
Assume that the memory depth of the oscilloscope is 700 Kpts, and the return format of the
waveform data is BYTE, then, the memory depth of the oscilloscope is greater than the maximum
number of waveform points that can be read for a single time (250000) and you need to read all the
waveform data from the internal memory at least in 3 batches (700000/250000=2.8).
When reading the waveform data in batches, note that the number of waveform points in the internal
memory that is read each time (namely, stop point - start point + 1) cannot be greater than the
maximum number of points that can be read for a single time (in this example, it is 250000); then,
you need to combine the waveform data that are read separately in sequence. The figure below
shows an example of the start point and stop point settings when you read the above waveform data
from the internal memory in 3 batches.
1 to 250000 250001 to 500000
500001 to 700000
The first batch
(250000 waveform points)
The second batch
(250000 waveform points)
The third batch
(200000 waveform points)
