Cable Routing Strategy
Cable and wire routing will generally follow these steps. Greater detail is provided after this overview:
Spindle Power Cable
• Uncoil spindle power cable.
• Run cable from VFD under table to X cable carrier.
• Secure to one side of carrier so motor and signal cables can be run on other side of carrier.
• Run cable to Y cable carrier.
• Remain on opposite side of signal and motor wires.
• Arch cable over top of YZ car and install on spindle.
• Take up slack in cable moving from Y to X cable carriers and secure cable with zip ties.
Motors and Signal Cables
• Install the source if it is not already installed.
• Unroll cable to ensure even feeding and minimize coiling.
• Secure cable with zip ties along the route to the proper location.
• Route to rst cable carrier (usually Y) and secure in place with two closed gates.
• Route all applicable cables through Y cable carrier.
• Relieve tension on Y cable carrier and secure wires at either end with zip ties.
• Route bundle from Y cable carrier to X cable carrier.
• Route other cables into X cable carrier (X motor cables, X prox switch, and emergency stop).
• Secure cables between cable carriers with zip ties.
• Organize and relieve tension on cables in X cable carrier and secure with zip ties.
• Route cables under table.
