7.1.3 Cleaning the volume measurement devices
Contamination on the optical boundary surface of the 2D LiDAR sensors can impair
the measuring behavior of the device.
NOTE! The LMS500 features an integrated contamination monitoring function for the
front screen. If the level of contamination is significant, the status indicators on the
LMS500 signal a warning or, if the contamination is extreme, an error.
In the event of extreme contamination, the SYSTEM READY LED on the MSC800 goes
out.

Switch off the device during cleaning.
Remove dust from the front screen using a soft, clean brush.
Then wipe the front screen with a clean, damp, lint-free cloth.
Use a mild, anti-static lens cleaning fluid if necessary.
WARNING!
HAZARDOUS LASER RADIATION
The 2D LiDAR sensor of the volume measurement system works with a class 1 red light
laser (IEC 60825-1:2014, EN 60825-1:2014)
Do not open the housing.
Observe laser safety regulations.
CAUTION!
REDUCED READING PERFORMANCE DUE TO SCRATCHES OR STREAKS ON THE
OPTICAL BOUNDARY SURFACE
The optical output is weakened by scratches and streaks on the optical boundary
surface.
Do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents.
Avoid any movements that could cause scratches or abrasions on the front screen.
