Font, Size and Rotation
The first two fields let you define the
font and the font size of the selected
object. Y
ou can see the r
esults directly
on the scr
een.
The font and its size and rotation set
tings are applied to all member ob
jects of a parent object, unless mem
ber attributes have been defined
individually. In this way you can de
fine a global format, which is easy to
change.
Therefore you should first define font
attributes for the ReportFrame. These
attributes become the default for all
subsequent objects.
Bold, Italic, and Underline
These attributes can be defined for ev
ery object. If a font hasn't been de
fined for an object, it is automatically
inherited from the parent object.
Field Alignment
You can choose left, center, or right and
top, center or bottom alignment for
any text field. These setting can only
be used for fields, not for parent ob
jects.
Font and Background Color
Beside the font and font size, you can
also define the font color for an object.
In addition to the eight standard col
ors, the system's "Custom Colors" ar
e
available. In this case you can select
from any colors available on your sys
tem. The ReportDesigner supports
True-Color-Display with 16.7 million
possible colors.
Borders, Borderdistance and Sepa-
rators
Every object can have full or partial
borders. You can define their thickness
in the four border fields. A width of 0
displays no border.
A separator is intended for lists. It is
placed between individual lines. If
you use separators, make sure you al
lot enough room in the "List Spacing"
field.
Dynamic – Static Position and
Length
Object dynamics was already ex
plained above. With the first two but
tons in the category you can define the
position and length of an object. This
is usually necessary with pre-printed
forms, which do not allow dynamic
sizing. In all other cases, we recom
mend using dynamic objects.
Please note that the static position of
an object is always in relation to its
parent object.
Assume that the "Address" object in
our example had a dynamic position,
but the "City" field was static. In this
case the entire "Address" object could
be shifted in the report, but the "City"
field would remain in the same posi
tion within it.
