1.7.1 Fundamentals of user operations
Although the menu bar below the title bar is always visible, if you wish you
can switch out the tool bar and / or the status bar. This might be to increase
the working area. You can do this by clicking on the tool bar / status bar in
the ’View’ menu.
This takes various forms depending on the application in question and
depending on whether a window, for example, is open or not. The
corresponding possibilities are listed in the description of the user interfaces
of the applications.
The menu is a group of functions and is called via the menu bar. Menu
functions which have no application in a particular editing step are grayed
out, thus indicating they are not available.
You can open the menus by clicking on the menu title or via the keyboard by
hitting the key <ALT> followed by the underlined letter.
If you hold the lefthand mouse button down, you can move the mouse pointer
along the menu bar, opening and closing each menu in turn (fast viewing).
You can use the righthand mouse button (clicking, for example, on an object
in the recipe window) to call a context menu which will offer you frequently
used functions from the menu bar, depending on whether an object has been
selected or not. Here you can only select functions which have an application
in the current state of the editor; all of the other functions appear grayed out.
If the object beneath the mouse pointer has not been selected (when the
righthand mouse button was clicked), it will be selected and the context
menu displayed will relate to this object.
The icons on the tool bar represent some of the most important functions in
the menu. Since BATCH flexible applications have their own tool bars, these
are shown in the descriptions of those applications and their functions
explained.
The icons are always shown in their entirety. Depending on the current state
of the application the icons will be selectable or not – in other words, only
those icons which could have a proper application can be operated. If they
appear grayed-out, this indicates that they are not available.
