4.5 Media crashes in basket
When the media crashes in the basket, then this could be due to different causes:
• The air may be very dry, e.g. due to the air conditioner or by heating the room. This makes the
paper backing very dry and stiff.
• Vertical cutting lines (in the X-direction = media feed direction) may create folding lines
perpendicular to the front and rear of the basket, causing the media to fold in the wrong
direction. Check the cutting depth, as cutting too deep will weaken the media. Do not cut into
the backing.
• The front or rear side of the basket is possibly not parallel with the machine: the tubes of the
basket may be bent, or one of the bumpers at the tube end may be missing.
4.6 Machine freezes
When the machine becomes unresponsive, without the possibility to use the touch screen,
then the machine may be switched off and back on to gain control of the machine.
This may be due to the following:
• Static electricity interfering with the data over the communication cables. See
“Communication issues”.
• A defect in the main board. Replace the main board.
• A bug in the firmware: update the firmware of the machine.
4.7 Knife keeps spinning
Applies only for machines with a tangential head. After loading media the home position of
the knife is set. While searching for the home position, the knife may start to rotate infinitely.
