The issue may be due to the following:
• This usually indicates an issue with the motor on the cutter head of which the encoder is
defective. Setting the tool to drag knife should stop rotation.
• The flat cable between the cutter head and the main board may have an interrupted wire.
• The flat cable may not be inserted straight in the socket on the cutter head (J9) or the main
board (J21).
• The motor cable may not be firmly seated in the socket (J7) on the cutter head.
• The driver (U28) on the main board used for the motor may be defective. Setting the tool to
drag knife will not stop the knife from spinning. Replace the main board.
4.8 Knife drops on media or cutting strip when machine is switched off
When the machine is switched off the knife may be lowered and touching the cutting strip.
Or while the machine is executing the media load sequence, the knife could scratch the
media.
