2-14 PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
IGNITION TIMING
NOTE:
Before checking the ignition timing, make sure that the idle
speed is adjusted within the specification.
1. Start and warm up the engine.
2. Attach the timing light to the No. 1 ignition coil high-tension
cord.
09930-76420: Timing light
09900-26006: Engine tachometer
3. Check the ignition timing while operating the engine at 1 000
r/min.
Ignition timing: Approx. ATDC 5° at 1 000 r/min
BREATHER AND FUEL LINE
If leakage, cracks, swelling or other damage is found, replace
the breather line and/or the fuel line.
FUEL FILTER
If water accumulation, sediment, leakage, cracks or other dam-
age is found, replace the fuel filter.
Inspect every 200 hours (12 months).
• Inspect initially after 20 hours (1 month) and every
50 hours (3 months).
• Replace every 2 years.
• Inspect every 50 hours (3 months).
• Replace every 400 hours or 2 years.
