Routine Maintenance Items
Routine maintenance items are printer parts that have a limited life and require periodic replacement.
Replacements may be parts or kits. Routine maintenance items are typically customer replaceable:
•Fuser
•Imaging unit
When to Order Supplies
The control panel displays a warning when the toner supply nears its replacement time, unless you
have deactivated this feature (see the Toner Low Prompt entry in the menu table of the General Setup
Menu on page 144). Verify that you have replacements on hand. It is important to order these supplies
when the messages first appear to avoid interruptions in your printing. The control panel displays an
error message when the supply must be replaced. See Error Messages on page 179.
You can check the status of the imaging unit to see what percentage of its life span remains:
1. On the printer control panel, press the Back/Menu button.
2. Press the Down Arrow button to go to Information and then press the OK button.
3. Arrow down to Supplies and press OK.
4. Arrow down to Imaging Unit to view the remaining life span.
To order supplies, contact your local reseller or go to the Xerox Supplies website at
www.xerox.com/office/6121MFPsupplies.
Caution: Use of non-Xerox supplies is not recommended. The Xerox Warranty, Service Agreements,
and Total Satisfaction Guarantee do not cover damage, malfunction, or degradation of
performance caused by use of non-Xerox supplies, or the use of Xerox supplies not specified for this
