Table 3-10 EEC1020 Front Panel Ports

LAN 1-16
(IES-3000)
These 10/100 Mbps auto-sensing Ethernet ports connect to a layer 2 switch. There is one
Ethernet port per slot.
LAN n-(1-4)
(IES-2000)
These 10/100 Mbps auto-sensing Ethernet ports connect to a layer 2 switch. The “n” is the slot
number on the IES-2000. Connect up to four Ethernet ports to each slot.
3.3 Connections
3.3.1 EEC1020
Connect the LAN ports of the EEC1020 to a layer 2 Ethernet switch using a straight-through category 5 UTP
(Unshielded Twisted Pair) cable with RJ-45 connectors.

3.3.2 Front Panel Port Connections
Use the optional Telco-50 cable to connect the DSL line card’s front panel Telco-50 connector to the splitter
card’s front panel Telco-50 connector. See the following figures.
Use ZyXEL’s 18 cm Telco-50 cables for connecting the IES-3000’s DSL line cards to their matching splitter
cards in the corresponding splitter chassis slots.
Use ZyXEL’s 48 cm Telco-50 cables for connecting the IES-2000’s DSL line cards in slots five and six to their
matching splitter cards in the corresponding splitter chassis slots. Use ZyXEL’s 31 cm Telco-50 cables for
connecting the IES-2000’s DSL line cards in slots two through four to their matching splitter cards in the
corresponding splitter chassis slots.
Make sure that you use the appropriate length Telco-50 cables with the DSL line cards in the
IES-2000, using cables of the wrong length blocks access to other cards.
