DRIVE

READY

TEST:

The

drive

ready

test

checks

the

drive

ready

circuitry

of

the

H.DU.

If

the

drive

is

not

ready

in

15

to

17

seconds,

a

Time

Out

error

message

is

displayed.

-

CONTROLLER

HARDWARE:

This

test

checks

the

hard

disk

controller

board.

This

test

writes,

reads,

and

verifies

all

possible

data

to

the

ports

that

allow

both

writes

and

reads.

-

DRIVE

HARDWARE:

This

test

checks

the

hardware

of

the

hard

disk

drive

itself.

-

SEEK

TEST:

The

first

seek

is

to

the

last

cylinder,

the

second

seek

is

to

the

first

cylinder,

the

third

seek

is

to

the

last

cylinder

-1,

the

fourth

seek

is

to

the

first

cylinder

+1,

and

so

on.

-

VERIFY

SURFACE:

This

test

verifies

the

surface

of

the

HDU,

taking

into

account

the

contents

of

the

bad

block

list.

-

TEST

CYLINDER

READ/WRITE:

This

test

writes

data

to

track

305

of

the

HDU,

then

reads

and

verifies

the

data.

7

-

DATA

PATTERN

TEST:

This

Test

Will

Erase

All

Files

on

the

Disk.

The

pattern

test

writes

all

cylinders

with

a

data

pattern,

and

then

verifies

that

pattern.

The

disk

is

written

from

the

first

cylinder

to

the

last

cylinder.

This

sequence

is

then

repeated

from

the

last

cylinder

to

the

first.
