the line on the control knob is aligned

Using the Oven
1. Ensuregas cylinder/supplyis connected
and turned on. In the event of a gas
smellturn offatgascylinder/mainsand
contactsupplier.
2. To light: open door, push in the control
knoband turn tofull rate(240°C).Hold
a lighted match or taper to the burner,
push the control knob in and hold. The
burner should ignite and the control
knobshouldbeheldinfor10–15seconds
before release. If the burner goes out,
repeat procedure holding control knob
forslightlylonger.
3. For models tted with spark ignition
the procedureis similar except that the
burnercanbe ignitedbydepressing the
ignition button, which is located on the
fascia.Ignitionmustbecarriedoutwith
thedooropen,andiftheburnerhasnot
lit within 15 seconds the control knob
shouldbereleasedandtheovenleftfor
atleast1minutebeforeafurtherattempt
toignitetheburner.
4. Place the oven shelf in the required
positionandclosethedoor.
5. Set the control knob to required
temperature. Although the oven heats
upquickly,itisrecommendedthata10-
minute preheat be allowed. The oven
shouldbeuptofulltemperatureinabout
15–20mins.
6. Toturnoff:turnthecontrolknobuntilthe
line on the control knob is aligned with
thedotonthecontrolpanel.
7. Shelf: the shelf has been designed to
allowgood circulationattherearofthe
ovenandis alsotted witharaisedbar
topreventtraysordishesmakingcontact
with the back of the oven. To remove a
shelf,pullforwarduntilitstops,raiseat
the front and remove. Installation of a
shelfisthereverseofthisprocedure.

Beforerstuse,heattheovenfor
about30minutesat200

C,to
eliminateanyresidualfactory
lubricantsthatmightimpart
unpleasantsmellstothemealsbeing
cooked.Anon-toxicsmokemayoccur
whenusingforthersttimesoopen
anywindowsandturnonmechanical
ventilatorstohelpremovethesmoke.
Alwaysensurefoodisproperlycooked
priortoserving.
Oven Temperature Control
Thetemperaturein theovenis controlledby
a thermostatic gas tap and is variable over
the range 130°C to 240°C. Approximate
temperaturesforthe settings on the control
knobareshowninthetableonpage93.The
temperaturesindicatedrefertothecentreof
theovenandatanyparticularsettingtheoven
will be hotter at the top and cooler towards
thebase.
The variation between top and centre, and
centretobottomisapproximatelyequivalent
toonegasmark.Goodusecanbemadeofthe
temperature variation in that several dishes
requiring different temperatures may be
cookedatthesametime.Inthiswaymaximum
benetcanbeobtainedfromthegasusedto
heat the oven. Care should be taken not to
overload the oven, adequate spacing being
usedtoallowfreecirculationforheat.
Cooking Guidelines
Although the oven heats up quickly, it is
recommendeda10minutepreheatbeallowed.
Theovenshouldreachfulltemperaturein15–
20minutes.
