CARBONMONOXIDEALARM
Please read all steps thoroughly before
attemptingtotestyouralarm.
•If the alarm is wall mounted, remove by
unhooking the unit from the wall xing
screws.
•Cover the sounder vents with one hand
andholdtheTest/Resetbuttondownwith
your thumb/nger until the power LED
illuminatesgreenandthe soundersounds
for a second time. (This should happen
after5 seconds.) Releasethe Test/Reset
buttonandthepowerLEDwillashgreen
onceeverysecond.Thisindicatesthatthe
samplingrateofthedetectorhasincreased
andcanbetestedusingaknownsourceof
CO.
•Lightanincensestickoracigaretteusinga
matchoralighter.Ifusinganincensestick,
besuretoblowtheameout sothat the
incense stick is smouldering. Extinguish
thelighter,orputoutthematchandplace
itintoadishofwater.
•Turn the detector on its side so that the
ventsontherighthandsideofthedetector
arepointingdownwards.Holdtheburning
incense stick or cigarette around 15cm
(6”) below the detector. An increase in
thelocalisedcarbonmonoxidelevelwithin
thesensortomorethan50ppmwillcause
thesoundertosoundforonecycleoffour
loudbeeps.ThepowerLEDwillnolonger
ash green every second but will revert
to ashing once a minute. The detector
will revert back to the ordinaryoperating
mode(itmaytakeupto2minutesforthe
localised level of carbon monoxide to fall
below 50ppm). Now move the source of
COaway from the detector as the test is
nished.
•Put out the incense stick or cigarette by
placing it into a dish ofwater. Ensure all
ameshavebeenextinguished.

Ifthelocalisedcarbonmonoxidelevel
within the sensor does not reach
50ppmduringthetest,thesensortest
willstopautomaticallyafter3minutes.
Understanding Your Product’s Indicators
The higher the concentration of carbon
monoxide detected by the detector, the

Testing the Sounder Batteries and Circuitry.
•Testthesounder,batteriesandcircuitryby
pressingandholdingtheTest/Resetbutton
for 1 second to conrm that the detector
isoperatingproperly.Thesoundershould
sound as soon as the button is pressed,
and the alarm LED will illuminate red,
indicatingthatthesounderisworkingand
the batteries are providing power to the
unit.Thetestforthesounderbatteriesand
circuitryshouldbeperformedweekly
Testing the Sensor
•Allsensortestingshouldbecarriedoutby
aresponsibleadult.Thistestshouldonly
be performed once a month. Excessive
testing will cause the battery life to be
shortened.
