Oven
•Ensure the gas cylinder is connected and
turnedon.Intheeventofagassmell,turn
offthegasatthecylinderandcontactyour
retailer.
•Remove all accessories and packing that
maybeintheovenandcleanthe interior
beforeusingitforthersttime.
•To Light: Open door, push in the control
knob and turn to gas mark 9. Depress
the ignition button located on the fascia.
Ignitionmustbecarriedoutwiththedoor
open, and if the burner has not lit within
15 seconds the control knob should be
releasedandtheovenleftopenforatleast
1minutebeforeafurtherattempttoignite
theburner.
•Placetheovenshelfintherequiredposition
and close the door. Set the control knob
toapproximatelygasmark5andheatthe
oven for about 30 minutes to eliminate
anyresidualfactorylubricantsthat might
impart unpleasant smells to the meals
beingcooked.
•Although the oven does heat up quickly,
it is recommended a 10-minute preheat
be allowed. The oven should reach full
temperatureinabout15–20minutes.
•Toturnoff:turnthecontrolknobuntilthe
dotonthecontrolknobisalignedwiththe
dotonthefascia.
•Flame Failure Device: the oven burner is
ttedwithaame-sensingprobewhichwill
automaticallycutoffthegassupplyinthe
eventoftheamegoingout.
•Oven shelf: the oven shelf is designed
to allow good circulation at the rear of
theovenandisttedwitharaisedbarto
prevent trays or dishes making contact
with the back of the oven. Additional
shelvesareavailablethroughyourretailer.
Temperature Control
The temperature control in the oven is
controlled by a thermostatic gas tap and
is variable over the range 130°C to 240°C.
Approximate temperatures for the settings
onthecontrolknobareshowninthetableon
page96.Thetemperaturesindicatedreferto
the centre ofthe ovenand atanyparticular
settingtheovenwillbehotteratthetopand
coolertowardsthebase.Thevariationbetween
topandbottomisapproximatelyequivalentto
onegasmark.Goodusecanbemadeofthe
temperature variation in that several dishes
requiring different temperatures may be
cookedatthesametime.Inthiswaymaximum
benetcanbeobtainedfromthegasusedto
heat the oven. Care should be taken not to
overload the oven, adequate spacing being
usedtoallowfreecirculationofheat.
Cooking Guidelines
Thepansuppliedwiththeapplianceismulti-
functional,forusewiththegrillandtheoven.
Alwaysremovethehandlewheninuse.
Bestresultswillbeobtainedbyusingtheshelf
recommendations from the recipe. It is not
necessary topreheatthe oven butadvisable
forarangeofdishes.Theoveniscapableof
fulltemperaturein15–20minutes.
Mostcookery books givedetails of the shelf
positions and gas mark settings for each
recipe. When roasting with aluminium tin
foilcaremustbetakenthatthefoildoesnot
impaircirculationorblocktheovenueoutlet.
