2 Progressa+ Bed Instructions for Use (216321 REV 2)
To identify which revision of the bed you have, look at the serial number label. The label is on the right
or left side of the upper frame at the head end of the bed.
The letter that follows P7501 identifies the bed revision.
Throughout this manual the wall outlet for the electrical AC power (mains power), we identify as AC
power.
SAFETY INFORMATION
Warning—Obey all warnings throughout the manual. Failure to do so could cause injury and or
equipment damage:
• Warning—The bed should be left in its lowest position when the patient is unattended in order
to reduce risk of injury due to falls.
• Warning—Establish policies and procedures to train and educate the staff on the risks
associated with electrical equipment.
• Warning—To avoid the risk of electric shock, this equipment must only be connected to supply
mains with a protective earth.
• Warning—Make sure the position of the bed is such that you can quickly, without obstruction,
unplug the power cord(s) from the AC power supply if necessary.
• Warning—Fluid spills onto the bed electronics can cause a hazard. If such a spill occurs, unplug
the bed, and remove it from service.
When fluid spills occur, outside of those seen in normal use, immediately:
a. Unplug the bed from its AC power source.
b. Remove the patient from the bed.
c. Thoroughly clean the bed and allow it to dry; then have the bed checked by service
personnel.
d. Do not put the bed back into service until it is completely dry, tested, and found to be safe
to operate.
• Warning—Improper use or handling of the power cord may cause damage to the power cord.
If damage has occurred to the power cord, immediately remove the bed from service, and
contact the appropriate maintenance personnel.
• Warning—The included power cord set and Li-ion battery may not be used with any other
equipment other than the Progressa+ Bed model they are packaged with.
• Warning—If the integrity of the external protective earth conductor is in doubt, operate the
bed from its internal electrical power source.
• Warning—Make sure the bed is unplugged and the lockouts are activated during service or
cleaning to avoid accidental movement. Refer to the Progressa and Progressa+ Bed Service
Manual (171748).
• Warning—Only use Hillrom or Baxter specified surfaces, parts, and accessories. Do not modify
the bed system without the authorization from Hill-Rom. To do so may introduce the risk of
harm to the patient or caregiver.
