84 Progressa+ Bed Instructions for Use (216321 REV 2)
X-RAY SLEEVE
To use the sleeve, do as follows:
1. Make sure the brake is set on the bed.
2. Make sure the bed is plugged into power.
3. Make sure the head of the bed is at least 30°. The position may be adjusted for patient comfort.
4. Put the surface in the P-Max Inflate mode, if applicable; do as follows:
a. Press the Surface menu control on the GCI screen.
b. Press P-Max Inflate.
5. Pull the sheet away from the edge of the surface.
6. Lift the top cover flap to access the sleeve zipper.
7. Unzip the sleeve. Use caution when operating the zipper. If the zipper binds, do not continue to
pull.
CAUTION:
Caution—The sharp edges of an x-ray cassette can damage the surface. Use care when you use an x-ray
cassette with the surface.
NOTE:
The cassette should insert easily. If it does not, take action to further offload patient weight. This may
generally be accomplished by raising the head of bed angle further, requesting the patient to lean
forward, or obtaining the assistance of a second person, as appropriate for the clinical situation.
The x-ray sleeve is available on the Progressa+ surfaces. The x-
ray sleeve permits a 17" x 14" (43.2 cm x 35.6 cm) x-ray cassette
to be inserted from either side of the surface top cover.
Surfaces equipped with an x-ray sleeve will show the x-ray
symbol on the top cover at the foot end of the surface.
8. Make sure the x-ray cassette is in a plastic bag or
similar covering.
9. Insert the x-ray cassette.
10. Remove the x-ray cassette when finished.
11. Zip the x-ray sleeve to close and make sure the x-ray
sleeve zippers are closed on both sides of the surface.
12. Make sure the top cover flaps cover the x-ray sleeve
zippers.
