IP/MAC Binding
Path: Network > LAN > IP/MAC Binding
Another available security measure is to only allow outbound traī˜žc (from LAN to WAN) when the LAN node has
an IP address matching the MAC address bound to it. This is IP/MAC Binding, and by enforcing the gateway to
validate the source traī˜žc’s IP address with the unique MAC Address of the congured LAN node, the administrator
can ensure traī˜žc from that IP address is not spoofed. In the event of a violation (i.e. the traī˜žc’s source IP address
doesn’t match up with the expected MAC address having the same IP address) the packets will be dropped and
can be logged for diagnosis.
Field Description
Host Name It displays the user-dened name for this rule.
MAC Address It displays the MAC address of this rule.
IP Address It displays the IP address for this rule.
Log Dropped Packets It displays the logging option for this rule.
To create IP/MAC Binding Rules:
1. Click Network > LAN > IP/MAC Binding.
2. The following elds are displayed on the IP/MAC Binding page.
3. To add a new entry, click Add New IP/MAC Binding.
