Send Email notification and/or an SNMP trap when an event
occurs
You can configure the device to send an email notification to a specified user or to send an SNMP trap
when an event occurs.
n If you enable email notifications, you must configure an email address.
n If you enable SNMP traps, you must configure an SNMP destination.
Note This section describes the events specific to Connect IT. For more information about all event
types, see Configure options for the event and system logs.
Configure the device to send an email or an SNMP trap
1. Log in to the web UI.
2. Click System > Device Configuration. The Configuration page displays.
3. Expand System > Log > Event categories.
4. Expand the desired event category for which you want to log events. An event notification is
sent when:
n Restart: The device restarts.
n Configuration: Configuration changes are made.
n Serial: Serial status changes occur.
n User: A user connects to or disconnects from a service.
5. Enable event notifications.
a. To enable the event notifications feature, click Enable Informational events. The slider is
blue when enabled, and is enabled by default.
b. Click Enable email notifications to send event notifications to the configured email
address.
c. Click Enable SNMPtraps to send event notifications to the configured SNMPtraps.
6. Click Apply to save the configuration and apply the change.
Configure email event notification
You can configure the SMTP server that is used to send email notifications, and specify an email
address.
Note This configuration works with the Enable email notifications option on the Event Categories
page.
1. Log in to the web UI.
2. Click System > Device Configuration. The Configuration page displays.
3. Expand System > Log.
4. Expand Email notifications.
5. Click Enable. The slider is blue when enabled.
a. From the Server type list box, select the method used to connect and authenticate with
the SMTP server.
