Paper is Smeared or Smudged with Ink
Part of Print Data is Missing / Auto Cutting Position Shifts
Cause Solution and Reference
The paper width and the shutters
on the platen do not match.
If the paper width and shutters on the platen do not match,
rising up of the paper may cause the paper and print head to
rub against each other, leading to the paper becoming dirty.
Set the shutters on the platen according to the instructions on
the label attached to the printer. (U "Adjusting the Shutters"
on page 66)

If
foreign matter is adhered to the
head, the paper may be smeared
with ink.
Execute manual head cleaning.
Press the Cleaning button for at least 3 seconds to run the head
cleaning.
If the platen vacuum is insufficient
for the paper, the paper may rub
against the print head and be
smeared with ink.
Platen vacuum manual adjustment is required.
Set the vacuum with Platen Vacuum Manual Adjustment on
the Options tab of the printer driver.

The paper being used and the
media definition do not match.
If the paper and the media definition of the printer driver do not
match, printing may not be at the correct position.

Position adjustment is required.
Click Printer Setting Utility on the Printer Utilities tab of the
printer driver to display PrinterSetting. Then execute Paper
Feed Adjustment from Printer Adjustment.
The adjustments of Cut Position Adjustment, Print Start
Position Adjustment (Vertical Direction), and Print Start
Position Adjustment (Horizontal Direction) can be made.
