4 Insert envelopes until the short-edge of the 
envelopes lightly touch against the paper 
feed entrance, with the side to be copied or 
printed on facing down and the flaps closed. 
Important • Do not force envelops into Tray 5.
• Do not load envelops above the 
maximum fill line. It may cause paper 
jams or machine malfunction.

Important • Never use windowed, lined, or self-
adhesive envelopes.
• These lead to paper jams and can cause 
damage to the printer.
Note • Ensure that you load envelopes with the 
flap completely closed.
• If the envelopes set in the Tray 5 are new, 
they may bulge. Flatten them to avoid 
jams as shown in the illustration.
• If the envelopes are still not loaded 
correctly, add some bending to the lead 
edge of the envelopes as shown in the 
illustration.
The amount of the bending should be 
5mm or less.
Using the Tray 5

Load only one size and type of print media during a single print job.
z
Do not add or remove the print media when there is still print media in the Tray 5 or 
when the machine is printing from the Tray 5. This may result in a paper jam.
