When Using Thin Provisioning Volumes (TPVs)
The following sections show the series of settings that need to be performed to use Thin Provisioning Pool
Volumes.
Not only can new Thin Provisioning Pool be created, adding or changing volumes that are registered in existing
Thin Provisioning Pools can also be performed.
TPVs can not only be used as virtual logical volumes but also as copy destinations for SnapOPC or SnapOPC+.
1 Set Thin Provisioning
Enable the Thin Provisioning function.

2 Create Thin Provisioning Pool
Create a Thin Provisioning Pool (groups of drives (which are configured in RAID groups) that configure a
Thin Provisioning Pool).
A volume is a structural unit of RAID. Select "Standard" for "Type".

3 Create Volume
Create a volume (physical drive allocation area in the Thin Provisioning Pool).
A volume is a structural unit of a Thin Provisioning Pool that can be recognized from the server. Select "Thin
Provisioning Volume" for "Type".

Thin Provisioning Configuration
This function enables the use of the Thin Provisioning function and sets the maximum pool capacity. The chunk
size is determined by the specified maximum pool capacity.
Refer to Table 6 for details.
Caution
Note that the Thin Provisioning function is not provided for the ETERNUS DX60 S5/DX100 S5/DX200 S5 1CM
model. In addition, the [Thin Provisioning] navigation is not displayed for these models.
