9.4.2 Security against Unauthorized Use
A password can be set to prevent unauthorized use of the server.
Setting a password makes it necessary to enter the password in order to access the server. Without the
password, the server cannot be used.
Password Types
There are two types of passwords that define the privileges of server operations.
z User Password (System Password)
The password required to use the server. Unless the set password is entered, part of the BIOS setup
cannot be accessed and the OS cannot be booted.
z Administrator Password (Setup Password)
This is the password that only allows the administrator to set up this server. Unless the set password is
entered, the BIOS setup cannot be accessed and the OS cannot be booted.
Setting a Password
The password is set in the BIOS Setup Utility. For details on the BIOS Setup Utility, refer to "8.2.11
Security Menu" (
JPg.204).
1 Start the BIOS Setup Utility.

2 Select the [Security] menu and select the type of password to set.
For the administrator password, select [Set Setup Password] and press the [Enter] key.
For the user password, move the cursor to [Set System Password] and press the [Enter] key.
3 When the password input window is displayed, enter the password to set.
4 Enter the password again to confirm it.
5 Press the [Enter] key.
This sets the password.
Set Setup(System) Password:
Enter New Password [ ]
Confirm New Password [ ]
Enter the password
Enter the password again for confirmation
