Improperly applied sensor.
Excessive maternal movement.
Excessive ambient light.
Damaged sensor
Check patient. The patient may be
experiencing shock, hypotension, severe
vasoconstriction, severe anemia,
hypothermia, arterial occlusion proximal
to the sensor, or cardiac arrest.
Ensure that the intermediate cable is
firmly attached to the monitor and to the
sensor assembly.
Ensure sensor is not too tight. Move
sensor to another location.
Restrict patient limb movement. Restrain
limb if necessary.
Cover sensor with opaque material.
Replace sensor.
