4.5 Head Drive Motor Assembly
Tools required: T25 Torx®
1
head bit Ratchet
Needle nose pliers Small wire cutters
Bed stands, or (2) pieces of 2" x 4" x 32" lumber
Removal
1. Set the brake/steer pedal to the brake position.
2. Using the hilow function, raise the bed to the high position.
3. Using the head function, raise the head section to the high position.
SHOCK HAZARD:
Unplug the unit from its power source. Failure to do so could result in
personal injury or equipment damage.
4. Unplug the bed from its power source, and engage the lockout control.
5. Remove the top motor cover (refer to procedure 4.1).
6. Remove the bottom motor cover (refer to procedure 4.2).
7. Perform step 7 through step 10 in the section titled “Hilow Drive Motor
Assembly” on page 4-7.
CAUTION:
Ensure that the night light is not damaged when the bed is being
lowered. Failure to do so could result in equipment damage.
8. Using a ratchet and T25 Torx® head bit, remove the four screws (A)
securing the electronics plate weldment (B) to the bed frame (see figure 4-
8 on page 4-17).
9. To improve access to the head drive motor assembly (C), carefully lift and
move the electronics plate weldment (B) to the patient’s left-hand side of
the bed.
