Figure 9-27 shows an example of how the data is broken into fixed-size chunks (in the
upper-left side of the figure). It also shows how each chunk gets compressed independently
into variable length compressed chunks (in the upper-right side of the figure). The resulting
compressed chunks are stored sequentially in the compressed output.
Although this approach is an evolution from compression utilities, it is limited to
low-performance use cases. This limitation is mainly because it does not provide real random
access to the data.
