3.1.5 BRIMs (BRI gateway Module)
3.1.5.1 BRIM2
The Basic Rate Interface gateway Module (BRIM2) has two (2) ISDN Basic Rate Interface ports
(2B+D). This Module supports the “T” interface as described by ETSI 300.012 based on the ITU-
T Recommendations I.430, and can be installed in the TE (Terminal Equipment) mode.
The BRIM2 includes a 10/100 Base-T Ethernet interface as well as packet voice processing
functions. The Ethernet port incorporates auto MDI, MDIX switching, therefore, both straight and
cross cables can be used.
As shown in Figure 3.1.5.1-1, the front panel of the BRIM2 has:
Power jack for the AC/DC adapter; see 3.1.15 AD/DC adapter –G-
Two (2) green power status LEDs
PWR1 - + 5 VDC
PWR2 - + 3.3 VDC
RJ-45 Female LAN connector with Speed and Link/Activity
LEDs
Normal/Service switch – In Service mode, circuits in use are
busied as they return to idle
Four (4) status LEDs -two (2) for each BRI Line
DB-9 RS-232 connector
Reset Switch
On the rear panel, the BRIM2 has:
Two (2) RJ-45 female connectors, one for each BRI Line
Ground Lug
Fifty (50) pin-back plane connector
