3.1.9 UVM (Unified Voice Mail Interface gateway Module)
The UVM (Unified Voice Mail Interface Module) provides mid-range Auto Attendant/Voice Mail
services for the iPECS UCP, primarily intended to support the UCP2400 but can be employed
with any iPECS UCP server. The UVM contains a processor, DSP and memory circuitry for the
Auto Attendant and Voice Mail functions, and various System announcements. The basic UVM
supports eight (8) simultaneous channels and 50 hours of voice storage capacity. The iPECS
UCP servers can support multiple UVM modules for additional channel and storage capacity as
shown in the chart below. Note the UCP100 and UCP600 include additional built-in VSF channels
as discussed in 3.1.1.

The UVM has a 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet interface and packet voice processing functions.
The Ethernet port incorporates auto MDI, MDIX switching allowing both straight and cross cables.
As shown in Figure 3.1.9-1, the front panel of the UVM has:
Power jack for the AC/DC adapter; see 3.1.15 AD/DC adapter –G-
Normal/Service switch In Service mode, circuits in use are
busy as they return to idle
RJ-45 Female LAN connector with Speed and Link/Activity
LEDs
Two (2) green power status LED
PWR1 - + 5 VDC
PWR2 - + 3.3 VDC
Six (6) Status LEDs
Reset Switch
One (1) USB 3.0 Host port connector
Four (4)-position DIP-switch for mode selections
DB-9 RS-232 connector
On the rear panel, the UVM has:
Ground Lug
Fifty (50)-pin back plane connector
