6.5 LGCM4 & LGCM8 Installation
The LGCM4 and LGCM8 may be installed anywhere except for slot 10 of the cabinet, or may be
installed anywhere in the Desk Mount Holder. The LGCM4 and LGCM8 provide a gateway
between standard PSTN Loop Start Lines and other iPECS appliances. The LGCM4 can support
four (4) PSTN Lines and the LGCM8 can support eight (8) PSTN Lines.
LEDs
In addition to the Power and LAN LEDs, the LGCM4 has four (4) status LEDs. and one (1) status
LED. The four (4) LEDs indicate that the individual PSTN Lines are busy (LED ON), idle (LED
OFF) or ringing (LED flashing). One (1) LED indicates whether a CMU is installed. If installed, the
LED is ON.
In addition to the Power and LAN LEDs, the LGCM8 has eight (8) status LEDs and two (2) status
LEDs. The eight (8) LEDs indicate that the individual PSTN Lines are busy (LED ON), idle (LED
OFF) or ringing (LED flashing). The left and right LED indicate CMUs are installed for the 1

ports, respectively. If installed, the LED is ON.
6.5.1 CMU (Call Metering Unit) Installation
The LGCM4 and LGCM8 support call metering with the CMU installed at the factory. Three types
of regional specific modules are available CMU1216 and CMU50PR; see 3.1.4.
To install the CMU on an LGCM, first remove all connections to the LGCM module. Then, follow
the instructions below referring to Figure 6.5-1 and Figure 6.5-2.
1. Remove the LGCM board from the module
a. Remove screws holding the housing back plate
b. Remove the screws holding the board in place
c. Carefully remove the board from the module housing
2. Locate the connector pins for the CMU.
3. Align the connectors on the CMU with the connector pins on the board and push gently
to engage.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to install the second CMU for a LGCM8, Figure 6.5-2
5. Carefully reinstall the board in the housing, and insert and tighten screws through the
board in to the housing.
6. Replace the housing back plate, and insert and tighten screws.
