Installing and Removing EX-series Switch Hardware Components
The EX-series switch chassis is a rigid sheet-metal structure that houses the other
hardware components. The field-replaceable units (FRUs) in EX-series switches are:
■ Power supply
■ Fan tray
■ Uplink module
■ SFP transceiver
■ XFP transceiver
The power supply, fan tray, SFP transceiver, and XFP transceiver in EX-series switches
are hot-removable and hot-insertable FRUs: you can remove and replace them while
the switch is functioning without turning off power to the switch or disrupting switch
functions. The uplink module is not hot-removable and hot-insertable: you must turn
off power to the switch before removing or installing it.
