Locating Switch FRU Component Serial Numbers
The power supplies, fan trays, and uplink modules installed in EX-series switches
are field-replaceable units (FRUs).
For each of these FRUs, you must remove the FRU from the switch chassis to see
the FRU’s serial number.
■ Power Supply—The serial number is on the top of the power supply. See
“Removing a Power Supply from an EX-series Switch” on page 108.
■ Fan tray—The serial number is on the back of the fan tray. See “Removing a
Fan Tray from an EX-series Switch” on page 112.
■ Uplink module—The serial number is on the circuit board. See “Removing an
Uplink Module from an EX-series Switch” on page 102.

Contacting Customer Support to Obtain Return Materials Authorization
If you are returning a switch or hardware component to Juniper Networks for repair
or replacement, obtain a Return Materials Authorization (RMA) from Juniper Networks
Technical Assistance Center (JTAC).
After locating the serial number of the switch or hardware component you want to
return, open a Case with Juniper Networks Technical Assistance Center (JTAC) on
the Web or by telephone. For instructions on locating the serial number of the switch
or hardware component you want to return, see “Locating an EX-series Switch or
Switch Component Serial Number” on page 117.
Before you request an RMA from JTAC, be prepared to provide the following
information:
■ Your existing case number, if you have one
■ Serial number of the component
■ Your name, organization name, telephone number, fax number, and shipping
address
