Guide Tape Replacement
The function of the guide tapes is to direct the
flatwork onto the ironing cylinder and to prevent
the flatwork from wrapping around the
compression roll. Replace the guide tapes using
this procedure.
NOTE: Replace any missing or
broken guide tapes immediately.
1. Release tension from the compression roll
by removing the spring loaded handles
from their bracket slots within each end
frame.
2. Cut a 44" (1,120 mm) length of guide tape,
for each guide tape to be installed.
3. Install the guide tapes following this path
(Figure 7-8):
a) Under the doffer roll
b) Under the red safety finger guard
c) Under the compression roll
d) Behind the guide tape bar
e) Over the compression roll
f) Forward through the red safety finger
guard (Figure 7-8)
4. Align and overlap the ends of the first re-
placement guide tape 5" to 6" (120 to 150
mm). Be sure the trailing edge of the guide
tape is on top and the leading edge is on
the bottom (Figure 7-9). Staple the ends
together, placing a staple near each end
of the tape with one to three additional
staples spaced evenly between. Repeat
this process for the remaining guide tapes.
5. Place the compression roll-spring loaded
handles back into their bracket slots within
each end frame.

Perform only when the unit is OFF
(with power disconnected) and COOL.
