WARNING
Do not adjust or test gas
components unless you are
qualified to do so. Serious
injury and damage to
property may result.
WARNING
The burner flame needs to be
adjusted if the following
unsafe conditions exist. Be
prepared to reduce gas flow
immediately if:
Flames are unsteady
Flames are below brass
burner tips
Lines of blue flame
throughout width of
ironing cylinder
20. When the ignition is successful, turn the
GAS switch to OFF. The burner flames
go out, and the combustion blower stops.
21. Press a red STOP button.
22. Turn off the gas supply at the external
manual gas valve.
23. Turn the power OFF at the main discon-
nect switch.
24. Disconnect the manometer from the gas
valve. Carefully install the plug so the gas
valve will not leak.
25. Close and secure the left end frame door.
WARNING
NEVER operate the unit
unless all safety systems are
working correctly and all
access panels are in place.

Checkout Completion
Whenever any of these checkout steps are
unsuccessful, proceed to the
TROUBLESHOOTING chapter. If the
problem cannot be determined/solved, contact
your local CHICAGO distributor or Chicago
Dryer Company’s factory Service Department.
During shipment and installation of the unit,
some dirt or other contaminants may have
accumulated that will mark processed flatwork.
Process several old pieces of flatwork using the
entire length of the unit to remove accumulated
dirt. For information on processing flatwork within
this manual, proceed to the OPERATING
GUIDELINES chapter, Daily Operating
Procedures section,
Flatwork Handling
procedure.
After completing all checkout procedures, the
ironing cylinder can be waxed. For more
information within this manual, proceed to the
OPERATING GUIDELINES chapter, Daily
Operating Procedures section,
Waxing
procedure.
2.4 First Month
Maintenance
The oil in the gear reduction units must be
changed after the first month of operation. For
more information within this manual, proceed to
the PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE chapter,
Semi-Annual PM section, Change Oil in Gear
Reduction Units procedure.
