Flame Safeguard Test Jack
The FLAME SIGNAL test jack (Figure 5-7, A)
is used for measuring and indicating adequate flame
strength, as detected by the UV flame scanners,
and interpreted by the flame safeguard in terms of
0 to 11 VDC. Normally, the wire jack for the front
panel FLAME SIGNAL DC voltmeter is inserted
into this hole, and the flame strength appears on
the voltmeter display. If an external voltmeter is
used instead, insert one of the probes into the
FLAME SIGNAL hole. Ground the voltmeter by
connecting it to the unit.
Temperature Control
The TEMPERATURE CONTROL (TSTAT1)
(Figure 5-8) is used to set the temperature of the
ironing cylinder.
NOTE: The TEMPERATURE
CONTROL has been precisely
calibrated at the factory for the
operating temperature range of
your unit. Do not be concerned if
ambient room temperature
indications are high prior to heating
up. The control cannot, and should
not be adjusted on site.
Temperature Control Operation
When power is turned ON at the main disconnect
switch, the TEMPERATURE CONTROL is
energized (Figure 5-8).
1. The ON indicator will be lit (A).
2. The display shows the SET temperature in
green (D), and the ACTUAL temperature
of the unit at the sensor appears in red (C).
3. To set the desired temperature, use the in-
crease $ or the decrease % buttons (E).
4. HEAT indicator (B) is on during the heat-
ing cycle and stays lit until the
ACTUAL temperature increases to meet
the SET temperature. HEAT indicator will
not come on again until the temperature
drops 12°F below set point.
5. The TEMPERATURE CONTROL op-
erates from 0 to 400°F. The SEL button
is not operative.

Electrical Connection
With the GAS ON/OFF switch (S3) set to OFF,
there will be no voltage at terminals 4 and 5.
When the GAS ON/OFF switch is set to ON,
both terminals 4 and 5 will have 24 VAC present
until the ACTUAL temperature increases to the
SET temperature. Once ACTUAL reaches SET
temperature, either terminal 4 or 5 will not have
24 VAC present.
Either terminal 4 or 5 will continue to have
24 VAC present until the ACTUAL temperature
falls 12 degrees below the SET temperature.
Then, once again, both terminals 4 and 5 will have
24 VAC present until the ACTUAL temperature
increases to the SET temperature.
