4. Turn the power ON at the main discon-
nect switch. Turn SPEED knob to the
slowest speed.
5. Press the green START button and run
the unit briefly to make sure the ribbons
track straight.
6. If the tension on the ribbons is uneven,
ribbons track toward the end of the re-
turn ribbon guide assembly where the ten-
sion is the highest. Stop the unit and turn
the power OFF at the main disconnect
switch. Either turn the adjusting screw
counterclockwise at the high tension end,
or turn the adjusting screw clockwise at
the low end.
7. Repeat Steps 4 to 6 until the ribbons have
the correct tension and track evenly.
8. Stop the unit and turn the power OFF at
the main disconnect switch. Secure the
locknut on each adjustment screw, while
holding the screws in place.
9. Close and secure the end frame doors.
WARNING
The safety interlock switches
are only to be defeated
temporarily while the
procedure is being done.
Never operate the unit unless
all safety systems are
working correctly.
Serious Injury Could Result.
Return Ribbon Replacement
Return ribbons stretch and the flatwork finish
deteriorates over time when flatwork moves
unevenly and improperly through the ironing
section. When the tension on the return ribbons
can no longer be adjusted, the entire set of ribbons
must be replaced.
Replacing Individual Return Ribbons
Ribbons that break should be replaced
immediately. The entire set of ribbons should be
replaced in order to avoid excessive stress on only
one new, slightly shorter ribbon. At a minimum, it
is recommended that ribbons be replaced in pairs.
NOTE: Return ribbons move
and hold the flatwork in proper
contact with the heated cylinder,
ensuring quality flatwork finish.
1. Verify replacement return ribbons are the
correct size and there is sufficient quan-
tity to complete procedure. See PARTS
LIST.
NOTE: HI-LYFE™ extended wear
ribbons are available. These
ribbons provide superior quality
flatwork finish. Specify HI-
LYFE™extending wear ribbons
when reordering.
2. Turn the power OFF at the main discon-
nect switch. Remove the protective
backplate from the rear of the unit.
3. Release tension on the return ribbons by
securing the return ribbon guide assembly
in a high position by either blocking off with
wooden wedges, or tying off from above
with wire, string, or guide tape.
4. If replacing all of the ribbons, remove the
ribbons at this time. Otherwise, remove a
ribbon from both ends of the unit and use
one or both as replacement ribbons. These
end ribbons can then be replaced by a pair
of new ribbons.
Perform only when the unit is OFF
(with power disconnected) and COOL.
