GL16 Operating Principles
5-17
6. If, at any time, the burner flame is not de-
tected by the UV flame scanner for a
3-second period:
• The flame safeguard closes the burner
gas valve and shuts down the burner
operation. The GAS VALVE green
indicator lamp goes out.
• An alarm output is generated by the
flame safeguard, which causes the fol-
lowing:
# FLAME FAILURE red LED on
the flame safeguard comes on.
# FLAME SAFEGUARD red indi-
cator lamp on the front panel comes
on.
Post-Purge (6 to 10 seconds)
1. The burner operation stops when:
• TEMPERATURE CONTROL is sat-
isfied (the ACTUAL temperature
meets the SET temperature).
• GAS ON/OFF switch (S3) on front
panel is turned to OFF.
• Flame failure occurs.
• FLAME SAFEGUARD (LT4) red
indicator lamp on the front panel comes
on.
• ACTUAL temperature equals or ex-
ceeds 400°F (204°C) at the high limit
touchless temperature sensor. If this
occurs:
# High limit temperature control
(HTL1) trips.
# HIGH LIMIT (LT3) indicator lamp
on the front panel comes on.
2. After the burner operation stops, the com-
bustion blower will continue to operate
under the control of the flame safeguard
for a post-purge lasting 6 to 10 seconds.
Heating System Fail-Safe Protection
Stage
This stage occurs whenever the flame
safeguard shuts down the operation of the burner
due to a system error, flame failure, or air failure.
Before the burner can be restarted, the flame
safeguard must be manually reset. To reset the
flame safeguard:
1. Wait at least one minute to allow the
safety switch to cool down.
2. Press the PILOT TEST/RESET button
on the flame safeguard twice to out posi-
tion. If no other errors are present:
a) FLAME SAFEGUARD red indicator
lamp on the front panel goes out.
b) INTERLOCKS CLOSED green LED
on the flame safeguard comes on, in-
dicating the heating system is ready to
start again.
