GL16 Operating Principles
5-11
Alarm Circuit
Energized when there is a flame failure,
air failure, or 30 seconds after a system
error such as:
• Flame detected out of sequence
• Electrical interference on the UV flame
scanner leads
• Faulty UV flame scanner
If the alarm circuit is energized, a lockout
condition occurs and the SYSTEM ER-
ROR, FLAME FAILURE, and/or AIR
FAILURE LEDs on the flame safeguard
will be illuminated.
Flame Safeguard Pilot Test/Reset Button
The PILOT TEST/RESET button is located
on the flame safeguard (Figure 5-7, F). This
button allows the flame safeguard to operate in
the normal mode or in the pilot test mode.
When the PILOT TEST/RESET button is in
the IN position, only the pilot flame will light. This
is useful when performing maintenance,
troubleshooting, or repair work on the pilot
assembly.
When the PILOT TEST/RESET button is in
the OUT position, the flame safeguard will
operate normally, allowing the burner to ignite if
all of the safety conditions are satisfied.
If a flame failure, combustion air failure, or
system error occurs during ignition or operation
of the burner, the flame safeguard must be reset
before it will work again. To reset the flame
safeguard, press the PILOT TEST/RESET button
twice so the button ends up in the OUT position.
Flame Safeguard Indicator LEDs
The flame safeguard has five LEDs which light
to indicate system performance and to aid in
diagnostics (Figure 5-7). For more information on
possible causes and solutions associated with each
LED, proceed to the TROUBLESHOOTING
chapter, Heating System section.
