[5] CHECKING/ADJUSTING AIR COMPRESSOR BELT TENSION
[CHECKING]
1. Open the engine hood (1) and remove step (7).
2. Deflection (A) should be 5 to 8 mm when the belt is pressed with the thumb with a force of approx. 58.8
N (6 kg) at a point midway between the compressor pulley (3) and fan pulley (4).
[ADJUSTMENT]
1. Loosen bolts (1) and (2).
NOTES
Bracket (4) holds the compressor in place. When bolts (1) and
(2) are loosened, bracket (4) moves with the bolt (2) securing
position as a fulcrum.
2. Loosen nut (5) attached to the fixed bracket (3) and then tighten
bolt (6).
NOTES
Tighten bolt (6) so that the deflection of the belt will be 5 to 8 mm
(approx. 58.8 N (6 kg)).
3. Tighten bolts (1) and (2) to secure bracket (4).
4. Loosen bolt (6) to remove from bracket (4).
5. Tighten nut (5).
CAUTION
Inspect the followings as well when you inspect the tension of the air compressor belt.
Check each pulley for damage, wear of the V-groove, and wear of the V-belt. In particular, be sure to
check that the V-belt is not touching the bottom of the V-groove.
If the belt is stretched and there is no allowance for adjustment, or if it is cut or cracked, please contact
us or our sales service agency for replacement.
When the new V-belt is set, readjust it after one hour of operation.
