3.23 STOWAGE OPERATION OF CRANE
3.23.1 CRANE OPERATION FOR TEMPORARY HOOK BLOCK STOWAGE
• The Over-hoisting cancel switch cancels the auto-stop function of the over hoist detector.
Operate the right work equipment control lever carefully when stowing the hook block. Pay
sufficient attention not to let the hook block collide with the hook block temporary stowage
position in the boom.
• Use the hook block temporary stowage position in the boom only for a travel within the site in
the middle of crane operations. For a distant travel such as to-and-from a working site or
transportation, always secure the hook block to the regular hook block stowage section in the
front of the upper structure.
• Prior to the hook stowage, always set the boom horizontal. When the hook block is stowed in
the condition that the boom is raised, the rubber in the top of the hook block may be damaged.
• Never attempt to derrick/un-derrick the boom while the hook block is in the stowed position.
That may damage the rubber in the top of the hook block.
• Never attempt hook block stowage while the moment limiter emergency stop cancel switch is
in the "ON" position. In that condition, the hook block stowage mode is not available and may
result damage to the rubber in the top of the hook block, the boom or wire ropes.
CAUTION
• Prior to hook block temporary stowage, stop the hook
block swinging.
• Be careful not to over un-wind the hook block which
results from it laying on the ground. This may result in
irregular winding of the wire rope to the drum.
• The boom retracting operation also leads to hock block
un-winding condition. Also boom lowering will cause the
hook block to lower. To avoid it laying on the ground, wind
up the hook block at the same time.
• Winding up should be carried out slowly. Hook block
stowage operation in the hi-speed mode must be avoided.
1. Operate the left work equipment control lever (2) to RETRACT
(pull backward) position and retract the boom to it‟s shortest
position.
NOTES
The boom retraction operation also lowers the hook block. Use
the wind-up operation to raise the hook block as applicable.
2. Operate the right work equipment control lever to LOWER (push
outside) position and lower the boom until it stops.

The boom lowering operation also lowers the hook block. Use
the wind-up operation to raise the hook block as applicable.
